Where Community Creativity Meets Artisanal Pizza at La Pané
At La Pané Pizzeria, the ways we define “artisanal” go beyond sourdough starters and carefully curated toppings — they extend into the very walls that surround you as you dine. This year, La Pané is proud to launch its community art collaboration with the creative minds of Kolmeglu art collective, transforming our space into a living canvas that celebrates local voices and visual expression.
La Pané has always positioned itself as a neighbourhood pizza place that’s rooted in community culture, craftsmanship, and character. In that spirit, the restaurant invited members of Kolmeglu — a group of local artists working across styles and media — to deck our walls with original artworks reflecting playfulness, personality, texture, and colour. The result is more than decoration: it’s a conversation starter. Patrons enjoy pizza alongside pieces that reflect the creative pulse of the community, sparking connection between diners, artists, and the place they all share.
This initiative is a small but deliberate step. Not a sweeping claim, but a commitment to ask better questions about the objects that quietly shape everyday habits — especially for the next generation.
We’re excited about where this could lead. Look out for more updates in this space as we continue researching, refining, and bringing this idea to life — one small plate at a time.

Visual art and food share something in common: both involve creativity, iteration, and sensory engagement. By bringing art into a dining environment that’s relaxed, welcoming, and rooted in everyday life, La Pané seeks to dissolve the boundaries between gallery and neighbourhood hangout. It’s art you can encounter while you’re waiting for your slice, art you can talk about over a meal, and art that supports local talent simply by being visible and accessible.
This collaboration also underscores La Pané’s support for grassroots creativity. We believe local artists deserve platforms to showcase work outside traditional spaces so more people can experience, enjoy, and collect original pieces. As part of our community-centred ethos, we’ve built in opportunities for artists to engage with our patrons, and — for some — to share and sell selected works, with proceeds supporting ongoing creative efforts.
We’re calling this initiative “Slice of Art” — a nod to both the culinary and visual experiences that make La Pané feel like home to many in Taman Melawati and beyond. As the project grows, the hope is to rotate featured artists, spark community events, and broaden what it means to be an artisanal neighbourhood pizza place: flavourful in food, vibrant in culture.
